Alas! I couldn’t put it off any longer. Back in September I went to the dentist because I had major toothache – always the way, you don’t go until it hurts and by then you’ve got to have something major done and max out your credit card – blegh.
So I went, had a few filings and my dentist said, you have an infection under your tooth, because you had hole in it, so you need to have root canal therapy or you’re going to loose the tooth.
He put some medicine on the nerve and filled my tooth back up – a temporary measure. The pain stopped everything seemed fine, so I thought well I don’t need the root canal, its too expensive and I feel good now

Bad idea! A few months later, my jaw became swollen, because the infection had come back and was pushing against it. (see image above) It was the size of a small malteaser , in your jaw, under your tooth aching away. Like a really infected pimple. Not good, not good at all.
So I bit the bullet and went and had Endodontic treatment (aka Root Canal) and this is essentially what they do….using a root canal file, down into your tooth…
I have to go back 2 more times, and I’m sitting at home having just come back from the dentist, with a numb face, feeling slightly out of it, staring at a bill of $650 (that’s just for the first visit). More drugs please Doctor!
Mental note: Cut back on the Starburst and sugary goodness!
Painfully Yours,
Alex
