With any story or situation, that is given a huge amount of media coverage, day in and day out, eventually you start to become numb to the whole process. Another war, another causality, another attempt at a peace deal. It’s a sad fact, but when you continously repeat the same story, no matter how important, people eventually stop listening, desensitized to it.
That’s why it’s important that you look at the recent scenes from Afghanistan, a collection of powerful photos taken for the Boston newspaper. They are compelling, frightening, heart-warming and sad. Real life out there, in one of the most hostile parts of the world, combines all those elements and more.
I was deeply moved and impressed with these photos and I hope that amongst all the news reports and token coverage, that the photos show you a new side to the situation happening in Afghanistan. They certainly did for me.

Just look at the cultural differences. That is there home town and look at us…we look like giants all geared up to them. Like we are from the future. They need us there, its not just a war. Its to help their own country, and to say they don’t need us is just an ignorant statement from some liberal who’s never stepped foot on their soil.
