POP VULTURE

“So you can take your electro. You can take your Prada. You can take your pystrance. You can take your Nirvana. You can take your Emo. You can take your Metro. You can take your pink shirt. You can take your hair gel. You can take your club scene. You can take your fake screen. You can take your bullshit. You can take your pipe dream. And you can shove it up your ass, cos at the end of the lot, in 10 years time you’ll be a boring f**king c**t.”

{STRANGE}

Electronic alternative outfit known simply as {STRANGE} are an instrumental 4 piece from Sydney Australia. Creating and designing dense soundscapes, that are as vast as they are caustic, as aggressive as they are epic. Part anguish, part apathy {STRANGE} are four individuals, with one single aim, to stretch your imagination and push your senses to their very limits.

Their debut EP (currently untitled) is moments away for being wrapped up, with mastering and pressing still to be done. It will be made available during the fall of 2007.

“We’re all very different individuals and we all have different ways of communicating the same sentence – but the unifying aspect is that we speak as a singular, powerful and venomous voice on this record.” Devo explains.

It’s been 5 years in the making and during that time the band have had to endure not only break-ups, internal fighting, dissolving friendships, family members dying, the bitter taste of failure, apathy towards each other, personal demons, having their own fans turn on them, members leaving and to top it all off, the constant threat that it could all end at any moment.

“It hasn’t been easy. But friction and tension can be good sometimes because eventually you need a release for both and we’ve always had the ability to write music because of that.”Reveals Filth

Infamous for their unsettling expressionless masks, bereft of a singer, entirely instrumental and a chaotic stage show to match, the band have never been one of take the easy route.

Syres elaborates “From the visual movies we make to compliment our shows, to the songs, to the theatre of it all, we just want to make a statement that there’s more to music than just looking at your shoes onstage for an hour. We’ve never comprised any aspect of our art and output for the sake of appealing to the masses – that’s never been the intention. We’re always going to do things on our own terms.”

Amen to that.
